State Treasurer Tim Cahill, taking swipes at both Gov. Deval Patrick and President Obama, boosted his bipartisan chops yesterday, telling Herald columnist Howie Carr on WRKO, “I voted for John McCain, believe it or not.” Cahill, saying he was barred from the 2008 Democratic National Convention because he wouldn’t endorse either Obama or Hillary Clinton, said, “My own party basically voted me out.” “I was afraid of what we had already been getting in Massachusetts, and at that point in 2008, I was aware that it wasn’t working,” he said. Separately yesterday, Cahill accused Obama of “propping up” the Bay State’s health plan with federal aid in order to help push the Democrats’ plan through Congress.

And Cahill's official .gov website contains the following statement:

State Treasurer Tim Cahill today faulted Gov. Deval Patrick for mismanaging the state’s health care initiative and warned that the consequences would be disastrous if a similar health care program were enacted nationally.

“If President Obama and the Democrats repeat the mistakes of the health insurance mandate in Massachusetts on a national level, they will bankrupt this country within four years,” Cahill said. “It is time for the President and the Democratic Leadership to go back to the drawing board and come up with a new plan that does not threaten to wipe out the American economy.”

I still cannot consent to this health care fiasco. It is way over-leveraged and has INFINITE AND ETERNAL DEFICIT written all over it.

Creating another Ginnie Mae-Freddie Mac to cause an economic collapse and dollar collapse is no way for a liberal to plan for the future.

No offense, but you guys are just not smart enough to craft this thing safely and reliably. Your own leader, Pelosi, has come up with some real whoppers in this context. You voted NO in 2009 on this health care fiasco. Keep it NO.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is prodding House and Senate Democrats to get him a final health care bill as soon as possible, encouraging them to bypass the usual negotiations between the two chambers in the interest of speed.

Obama delivered the message at an Oval Office meeting Tuesday evening with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and his No. 2, Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., joined in by phone.

They agreed that rather than setting up a formal conference committee to resolve differences between health bills passed last year by the House and Senate, the House will work off the Senate's version, amend it and send it back to the Senate for final passage, according to a House leadership aide, speaking on condition of anonymity in order to discuss the private meeting.

This shows how weak the congressional health care takeover is. Another rush job (like the pork-o-rama stimulus bill that didn't work) and they have to jam it through without ordinary public scrutiny. A bad business.

Kosmas dodges face to face with constituents by using Tele-Town meeting

I just got off the phone with Rep. Kosmas' office in Port Orange. No conventional face to face town hall meetings for US.

Instead, her constituents get

1. A Tele-Town Hall telephone conference
2. no date specified yet
3. The Kosmas staff will let people know when-where-how info by "robocalls" in the 48 hours prior to the conference call.
4. They will also let people know when-where-how info by email in the 48 hours prior to the conference call.
5. The staff member answering the call could not refer me to a spec sheet on how Tele-Town Hall works.
6. Instead she referred me to Kosmas press-sec. Marc Goldberg, 202-225-2706 up in D.C.
7. Why no conventional town hall face to face meeting? According to the staff member, Kosmas excused her own absence because holding six town-halls in one month was logistically impossible
8. and that telecom is more equitable.

I do not view this excuse as credible. She makes plenty of campaign stops when she has to. But now that she has our vote, she is just not that into us: face to face is not logistically practical.

Sounds as dim as that boss in the film Office Space.

I decided to go ahead and do about 30 seconds of digging about Tele-Town Hall.

Apparently one needs to obtain the "Control Sheet" with codes etc.

So if Kosmas does not want you on her list of people permitted to speak to her, you are S.O.L. That does not seem very open or inclusive.

Main idea:

You have a fiduciary responsibility to us.

So these trillion dollar health care takeovers and cap trading schemes have to be NO GO.

You have to cut up Nancy Pelosi's credit cards.

And even if we could afford it, I do not want Barney Frank running my health care. And that cap trading seems like Enron on steroids. NO GO.
